Schedule

This project was kept track of by creating tasks for all major deadlines. The task is contained by a summary that outlines a group of tasks. Each task uses deadlines to ensure the project is kept on track. This is displayed as a Gantt chart depicted below Image 5.01. The Gantt chart also displays the estimated time allocated for a task vs the actual time taken. The schedule is divided into three phases design, construction, and testing. Design primarily took place within the fall quarter with some overlapping design taking place in the winter quarter as adjustments are necessary. Construction took place throughout winter quarter. Testing of the device will be done in the spring or as soon as possible after the construction phase.

Budget

The budget used for the RC Baja Car is divided up into five main categories. Labor, which is the time spent by students used to manufacture the components at a competitive entry level engineering pay. Material describes the materials that were used by students in order to manufacture the vehicle. Purchased parts will be all components that will be purchased, including items such as the motor, battery, U-joints, etc. Manufacturing encompasses all of the parts that will be drafted and sent to a machine shop for machining. As of right now no parts will be sent out to send-cut-send, originally the rear axle was to be outsourced but in order to save cost and gain experience students will now be using the CNC and turning the axles by hand.  The last category is a contingency fund section left with an allotted $100 for unforeseen circumstances. For fall quarter the only part of the budget used is Donations of parts from Nancy Hartman. As of winter, quarter all purchased parts and materials have been purchased. There should be no purchasing as late as spring quarter but incase purchasing is necessary the contingency section of the budget will come into play.
